Dental Implants- Restoration Only

Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin, Folsom, and Citrus Heights, California

If you are missing a tooth, and the thought of wearing removable dentures makes you cringe, then dental implants are a viable alternative. Implants provide support for natural teeth that look and feel secure.

The versatile implant

Dental implants offer the most complete and permanent option to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. These restorations can help retain a full or partial denture and can also be used anchor points to securely attach a partial denture or bridge. Often times, however, dental implants are preferred over other tooth replacement options.

Since a dental implant is permanent, full replacement for both the visible portion of your tooth and its root is necessary. Replacing the root portion of your tooth thwarts some of the bone loss problems that could arise from the loss of your root.

A two-part process

There are two steps of the dental implant process: the actual implant, which is secured into your jaw to replace your tooth’s root; and the tooth restoration which is the visible portion attached to the implant. Dr. Miller deals only with the dental implant restoration part of this procedure—the tooth portion.

Types of restorations

There are two general types of dental implant restoration:

Dental crowns

Sturdy durable porcelain crowns or porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns can replace a single missing tooth or multiple teeth in different places. This crown is custom-designed to perfectly fit your implant and match the color of you surrounding teeth. The result is an implant that is indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Bridges

Where multiple, adjacent teeth are missing, an implant-supported bridge is the best option.
This bridge is like a conventional bridge, except that it is anchored by dental implants instead of your adjacent teeth.

Advantages

Dental implants offer many advantages including:

  • An alternative to bridgework
  • Comfort and confidence
  • A permanent solution to tooth loss
  • A healthy, beautiful smile
  • The ability to be used with other restorative procedures (dentures, bridges, crowns)
